If you’re not betting on the chance of finding this title in a used bookstore or are too excited to see if it’s available at your local library, you can always order it online. While I waited for the waitlist to dwindle, I was presented with this out of the blue opportunity to bring the book home and start reading it that very day. If it was in such demand, I knew it had to be good. I had seen it on my local library’s online catalogue, with a waiting list that trailed months. Well, exactly this happened when I gazed upon the cover of Brazen: Rebel Ladies Who Rocked the World by Pénélope Bagieu.īrazen (as I’ll call it for short) had caught my eye a few times. One that I’m shocked hasn’t been bought yet, so I throw it in my basket and quietly sneak away as if I’m committing a crime by finding such a bargain.
While I typically have more luck finding a new-to-me funky skirt or an intriguing painting, every now and then I see a book that jumps off the shelves at me. There’s a thrill when finding something different and unexpected. It would be no surprise to find me at a flea market, vintage fair, or scouring the shelves of Value Village.
