The POV’s would change without any warning and I was beginning to play favorites with our cast. We had an array of characters, from the main ensemble to passing strangers who all add something to the story no matter how small, and it started to get confusing.
Yet I can’t call that a negative I felt lulled into this lore and it gave me time to be reflective.
The beginning was also confusing as we’re waiting for the story to unfold and everything to be laid out.
I mean, I was reading slow as to not miss anything, but it’s such a heavy story, it took longer for me to finish. Yet, despite my rating and my gripes, I have a deep love for this book and some of it’s characters. The last 20% could’ve made this book a four star read, but the other 80% was a slow journey. Finishing it left me with a satisfied feeling, but the longer I sat on it, the more I found myself appreciating the story and wanting more. This is one of those stories that snuck up on me.
